How to Get Involved

Volunteer Opportunities

At Food for the Journey, we hope to include as many people as possible in our mission. There are many different ways that you can volunteer with us. Here are a few:

  • Lend a hand in one of our gardens! We need people to plant, cultivate, weed, water and harvest.
  • Get food to where it needs to be! We need folks to pick up food from our gardens and get it to the places where we distribute.
  • Put food in people’s hands! Many of our distribution points need more hands to help move, pack and hand out food.
  • Train up others! If you have experience with gardening, or with preserving produce, you can help to train more volunteers.
  • Get your church involved! You can teach a Sunday School class or your congregation about food disparity and the needs in our own back yard.
  • Raise awareness and money! You can organize a fundraiser for Food for the Journey.
  • Use your imagination! We want to include you, so if you have an idea about how to use your gifts for our mission, let us know.
Feel free to fill out our volunteer form and send it to Pastor Nikki Blanks at Nikki@food4thejourney.org

Join as a Member Church

If your church would like to become a part of Food for the Journey, we’d love to welcome you. There are a couple of forms to fill out so that we can get to know you better, and so that you understand the responsibilities and benefits of membership.

We love to share our food with as many people as possible. Fill out this form to tell us about your plan and your needs and we’ll try to fill that need.

Donate Food from Your Garden

If you have a home garden and excess crops, you can bring them to a couple of different drop off points. Due to the perishable nature of this produce, we ask that you donate items the day before they’re distributed. (Where/Which Days Garden Food May be Dropped Off)

How to Get Started

If you want to do any of these things and you’re not sure where to start, reach out to our volunteer coordinator, Pastor Nikki Blanks at Nikki@food4thejourney.org.
